TEFL Schools TEFL Volunteers ESL Jobs

The TEFL job market in The Philippines is growing especially within central Philippines particularly in Cebu City. With the emergence of English as a global language, language schools are sprouting like mushrooms across other cities like Manila and Davao as well. It will not be surprising to see young children speaking English because Philippines use English language as its official language and medium of instruction in schools. Now, you would probably think that teaching English in the Philippines would therefore be restricted to that in the rural areas. This is true to some point because that is where the volunteer jobs are. However, most of the commercial ESL courses offered by international schools and private organizations are in the major cities. Therefore, TEFL trained graduates will be able to find ESL teaching jobs in the Philippines. Do not be surprised if you enter a classroom full of students from Korea and Japan. Philippines is indeed fast gaining a good reputation as an English speaking nation worth going to, to learn English. Private language schools cater to foreign students capitalizing on the Filipinos' competence of the English language.

The average salary starts at 40,000 Philippine pesos for the first 1-2 months then goes up to about 60,000 Philippine peso per month thereafter and this is dependent on the type of school or company and terms of employment. Some schools provide accommodation, wherein teachers share the rooms in an apartment. One can also work in companies, training employees to enhance their ability to use English as a working language successfully. On the whole, most TEFL trained foreign teachers would not only enjoy a rewarding job, but also a first-hand experience of the lifestyle, culture and heritage of the Filipinos. There is no dearth of first-world luxuries because in major cities, there are great places to hang out, watch movie, go shopping and experience an exciting night life.

Teaching and living in the Philippines can be very rewarding because of the warmth and hospitality of the Filipinos. The locals smile a lot and make foreigners feel welcome and they speak English well.
