Medical facilities in India are improving and standards are becoming
impressive. India is fast emerging as a favored place of medical treatment.
In Delhi, foreign tourists can be seen moving around looking for treatment
that is international and yet, cost-effective. With a large pool of highly
trained doctors, riding on a technology wave, offering services priced at a
fraction of those in the West, healthcare aims to revolutionize India's
medical industry.
Major hospitals in India have advanced greatly in last few decades. Where
after the independence finding basic treatment was difficult in India, today
there are hospitals, which offer treatments that are done in few of the best
hospitals in the world. All major hospitals in India along with offering
advanced medicinal treatments for different types of disorders and diseases
they also have many other health related activities. Many major hospitals
offer different packages for health checkup. They also have special wellness
centers that offer alternative treatments such as Ayurveda, Aromatherapy and
many others. On the other hand few hospitals such as the Apollo hospital
offer telemedicine facilities to areas where medicinal consultation is not
available.
Apollo Hospital
Apollo Hospitals, which is the largest health care group, has its hospitals
in all cities of the nation.
Apollo hospitals are located in three metropolitan cities Chennai, Delhi,
and Kolkata. They are also located in Ahmedabad, Banglore, Bilaspur and
Madurai. Ludhiana, Indore, Ranchi, Pune, Raichur, Mysore and Ranipet. The
Centers of Cardiology and Cardio Thoracic Surgery at Apollo hospitals is one
the best and largest cardiovascular group in the World. Apollo hospitals
also have highly advanced department for Medical and Surgical
Gastroenterolgy, Nephrology and Urology, Oncology, Orthopedics and
Replacement Surgery. They also have advanced center for Hand and Micro
Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery and for cosmetic surgery.
Other Major Hospitals
Most metropolitan cities in India have the Major hospitals of the nation. In
Mumbai, you have the Mumbai Hospital, Breach Candy, Lilawati, and TATA
Cancer hospital to name a few. Further, as the treatment cost compared to
quality is low as compared to most nations, India is attracting a rising
number of medical tourists. However, the condition of government hospitals
can be appalling. India spends less than 2% of its GDP on health and it
shows in the conditions of its government hospitals. Their reputation is
well warranted, with chronic overcrowding, under-funding, poorly-trained
support staff or peons and ward boys, insufficient security, and facilities
which do not meet the demands of the poor who frequent these institutions.
To make it worse, in times of crisis, government hospitals are frequently
overwhelmed with a sudden influx of patients who overwork an already
struggling infrastructure.
